This place gave me a deep sense of the fragility of human life, the power of religion, the influence of money (yet at the same time its uselessness in the face of time), and a clear vision that when I die, I will totally have a full-size statue of me in my bathrobe and slippers next to the grave...

Day At San Telmo Market
All the guidebooks say the Sunday street market in the San Telmo neighborhood is a must-see. Indeed, it was the largest market I have ever seen. It went down one street for 20-30 blocks, with many side streets full, as well.
Booths contained crafts, tango-themed everything, clothes, art, leather goods, and antiques. Cool stuff, but overwhelming. The 90 degree weather and 5 mile walk to get there wore me down, too.
San Telmo is an old neighborhood, with great European architecture and cobblestone streets.

...how do you afford your rock n roll lifestyle?
HUNGOVER. ...so much so that I can't even manage an exclamation point. Fittingly, it does not match my mood. I'm worn out. Argentinians party late. Sometimes until 7am. ...Argentinas...
Met some nice people last night. A Canadian army dude that really likes MMA. There is an expat bar that shows american sporting events. Andrew talked shop with him. I curated their music playlist (they use YouTube). Introduced them to Japandroids and The Lumineers. They were much appreciated, specifically the bartender Cecilia. Yes, she knows the Paul Simon song. However, that did not stop Andrew from serenading her. I think he's thoroughly in love. I just hope I'm in the wedding!!

Sesame Street Comes Through
Cerrado...abierto...banos...
It's coming back to me from the depths of my childhood!

Ice Bucket
When you order a whiskey on the rocks, you get a miniature bucket of ice to use at your own discretion ... genius!
Tres Parilla
Tres Parilla = 3 Steaks, which Andrew had this evening. No, he did not reach some god-like feet. He simply had an unfortunate ordering experience and a very pleasant, hard working waiter.
Andrew's first steak was literally a milk-steak. A steak boiled in cream. He said it tasted like a gym shoe (see pic) the waiter immediately brought him a new steak (same cut as mine), however it was well-done, not medium rare (apunto) like mine. Unsatisfied with this, Andrew offered to pay for a third steak, which he got. The waiter only charged for 1, but Andrew tipped generously!!

Whore's Bath
Floor drain and shower spicket, not so good for shower (water everywhere), but plenty convenient for a good 'ol whore's bath ...
The Man Tour of Buenos Aires
You think it's worth it?

A Visa for Argentina
Americans now need a visa to enter Argentina. As of when, you ask? As of Dec. 27, 2012...the very day of our flight! How lucky are we? Well, $320 lucky, to be precise ($160 each). 😢
Recoleta Market
There is a market next to Recoleta Cemetery on Saturdays. Many people hocking their wares. We picked up a few trinkets. It was big on leather goods, but no ass-less chaps or full length dusters... I guess I'll have to wait for San Telmo market manyana
It's a matter of choice...
Perhaps it's my American disposition, but I revere freedom of choice, especially when it comes to beverages. Argentinians must share these values because on their brunch menu many of the package deals come with coffee, milk and juice. I added the Chardonnay ... I'm on vacation
Ginger Ale - the Cadillac of non-alcoholic in-flight beverage choices
This observation is a bit dated, but I felt the need to stress it. This beverage was especially appreciated after the delayed flight fiasco, the visa fiasco, the sprint through Newark Airport and the 11 hour flight.
